Chanderi saris are a specialty and fame of Madhya Pradesh. It is mostly worn in the summer season. It is a traditional specialty of craftsmen of Chanderi to warp silk and weft cotton. It reflects a gentle complexity which is unmatched. We can notice the Benarsi style in the Silk Zari Saris. Chanderi saris have a general feature of a thick gold border and the pallav has two golden bands. As it gets costlier there are gold checks and lotus buttis (roundels) everywhere.
Cotton and silk is mostly utilized in the Maheshwari Sarees, which is featured with sheer minimalism. The area of expertise of the craftsperson of Maheshwar is that the saris have reversible border and they could be worn on whichever side. The most demanded patterns of the Maheswari Saris are an array of leaves and flora on the border which are recognized as KarnPhool prototype. The pallav consists of five stripes i.e. three of which are coloured and two white are sporadic. Natural as well as Artificial Silk is used these days.
The Devangan community of the Raigarh and Champa are entrusted with the weaving of tussar silk sarees. To give it a metaphorical look the brocade is decorated with Zari.

The cotton grown in the local areas can be spun to 300 excellent counts. The ornamentation of the Chanderi Sari is done from not only the earth but also the elements such as the tree of life, hunting scenes, man, woman, flora and fauna, heavenly bodies etc.

Queen Ahilya Bai established Maheswar town and the carvings in the walls of her citadel and place of worship became a source of stimulation for the sophisticated patterns of the Maheshwari Sari.
DECORATION OF COLOURS AND DESIGN
The colours used in Maheshwari saris are grape green, deep pink, magenta, deep mauve pink, light violet, purple, green, cyan, golden, dark brown etc.
The designs of Maheshwari Sarees include various decorations like aam buta, bel phool, hansa, mayur, chand tara, ambi butti etc.
